About

Pioneer People Wirral was founded in November 2002 and has a 20 year track record of delivering community based services within Wirral and international projects in Albania, Morocco, Romania, India, Kenya and The Gambia.

On the Wirral a focus of our work is centred around The Hope Centre, a Community Centre based on Fishers Lane in Pensby.  This building was secured in 2008 after we approached the Council and suggested an Asset Transfer.  We became the first Community Centre to be transferred on the Wirral which helped form a template for the subsequent transfer of other Council managed Community Centres.

We have fully refurbished the Community Centre and expanded provision by opening a community workshop called Shedheads which provides access to woodworking, metal working and DIY equipment.

Other local projects have included; family fun-days, litter picking, youth work, ICT support clinics, Legal and Debt Counselling, recycling and sustainability projects, elders projects and charity shops.

Internationally, we now mainly work in Kenya and The Gambia and help set up sustainable businesses and export aid and equipment.  Our overseas work includes a vibrant partnership with ourselves, Merseyside Police and Liverpool Prison which sees lost and stolen bikes refurbished and shipped to partners in Africa.  In 2022 we also co-ordinated local collections and delivered aid directly into Ukraine.

Congratulations and thanks to Paul 'Lennie' Lenonard who has just compled a solo swim of the English Channel to raise funds for our work.
Our CEO is a World Record Holder having riden over 16,000km on 50cc to raise funds for our work in the Wirral and Ukraine.
